De stijl is naturalistisch met expressieve kleuren en een aanzet tot vereenvoudiging van vormen. Dit is terug te voeren op zijn bewondering voor het werk van Paul Cézanne in deze periode. In 1919 koos Willink definitief voor het schildersvak en trok hij naar Berlijn. Daar schilderde hij vooral geometrisch-abstracte composities.

Albert Carel Willink (* 7. März 1900 in Amsterdam; † 19. Oktober 1983 ebenda) war ein Kunstmaler aus den Niederlanden. Carel Willink war der Sohn eines Automobilhändlers in Amsterdam. Der Vater hatte das Malen als Hobby und besuchte mit Carel und dessen jüngeren Bruder Jan Willink oft Ausstellungen im Amsterdamer Rijksmuseum und Stedelijk Museum.
